Student Art Program’s Largest Exhibition Installed
The Student Art Program (SAP) Worlds Near and Far II exhibition at Eton Park Capital Management took place on Tuesday, February 8th. Over 230 students attended with their families to see their work professionally installed in the beautiful corporate space. Eton Park is the largest installation of middle and high school student artwork in this program and we are grateful for their continued support of SAP. Coming up in March, a new partner, Proskauer Rose LLP, will be holding an exhibition entitled Goals and Dreams for 34 student artists in their new Times Square office. In addition, long-time SAP supporters Centerview Partners will host an exhibition in April, followed by PwC in May.
DELLTA Final Report Reveals Student Achievement in the Arts
In 2010, ArtsConnection concluded its five-year US ED grant for Developing English Language through the Arts (DELLTA). The final research report has concluded that our targeted arts programming has had a definitive impact on English Language Learners’ (ELL) academic achievement. Researchers observed that the DELLTA students demonstrated higher levels of motivation and focus. Standardized test scores of students show that participation in the DELLTA program supports closing the achievement gap among ELL students. A higher percentage of students participating in the DELLTA program demonstrated greater achievement than those in comparison groups in English Language Arts (64% vs. 50%) and in Mathematics (75% vs. 50%). Through DELLTA’s unique approach—its use of the performing arts to build language acquisition— ELL students develop self-confidence, perseverance, and the ability to work together, as well as the language skills they so critically need. Seeing the remarkable progress of their students, many schools continue to partner with ArtsConnection in the DELLTA program.
Spring TRaC is in Full Bloom!
ArtsConnection's Teen Reviewers and Critics (TRaC) program encourages teens to think critically about the arts through their attendance of professional arts performances and the creation of written reviews that are published on The High 5 Review. The call for Spring 2011 TRaC applications received its largest and most enthusiastic response yet, with over 90 teen applicants, creating a need for an additional Multi-TRaC section. TRaC is also proud to kick off the inaugural season of the newest TRaC section: Film TRaC!
