ArtsConnection Spring Benefit 2011

The ArtsConnection Spring Benefit on May 24, 2011 was a tremendous success, raising over $1 million for arts education in New York City. Honoree and Board Vice Chairman Robert A. Pruzan was instrumental in making this our most successful fundraising event in our 32 year history as an organization. Many thanks to the generous individuals and corporations that contributed to the event and helped us to reach our goal!

We thank Robert, our Board Chairman Linda LeRoy Janklow, and our entire Board of Directors who helped make this night possible. Board Member David Monn once again lent his creative genius for the night and created a stunning event décor that transformed the space at the Powerhouse at the American Museum of Natural History.

Host and satirist Andy Borowitz kept the mood light in between speeches, while our Janklow awardees, Teaching Artist Mei-Yin Ng and Principal Sharon Fiden, spoke to the importance of the arts in the lives of their students. Mei-Yin's dance students from PS 20 kicked off the evening with their vibrant ribbon dance performance, which delighted guests and gave them a glimpse into one of many ArtsConnection school programs. Guests learned even more about what we do by watching a short film on ArtsConnection, which was generously created by graduate film students from the School of Visual Arts. To close the night, Sotheby's VP and auctioneer Jamie Niven rallied guests to help us reach our goal to raise more money for the thousands of public school children who benefit from arts education each year thanks to ArtsConnection.
